Method of Producing Musical Compositions Through the Medium of Color. Charles
F. Wilcox, of Brooklyn, New York, Assignor of Forty-Nine One-Hundredths to
Albinus Wilcox, of Kings County, New York. Executed Dec. 30, 1915.
Filed Jan. 7, 1916, Serial No. 70,763. "This invention
relates to the method of producing musical compositions, or accompaniments for
musical compositions, or other rhythmical effects, auricular or spectacular,
essentially for entertainment, as instrumental music, singing, marching, dancing
or dramatic action, by and through the medium of color which is presented to the
eye as a changing rhythmical light of different colors projected upon a screen a
stage or other object or it may be so contrived and arranged that the effect
will be projected directly to the eye from the source of light.... By
connecting the driving mechanism of the projector with the mechanism of a
phonograph, a mechanical piano player, or with both or with other similar
instruments I have found that musical tones from the instrument, and the color
of the films projected upon a screen or stage or other object may be presented
synchronously without error or defect as the speed of the projector, the
phonograph and instrument may be exactly regulated so as to operate in unison.
A simple and practicable means of connecting the mechanisms of the devices is
illustrated in Fig. 6." Classification 352/39; 84/464A; 84/464R.
